George and Lidia were the first GLO Romania workers when the work commenced in 1993. George is one of the leaders in the brethren church in Sibiu and has been involved in Gypsy church planting since 2003. There are five Gypsy churches that George is currently involved in, some he visits regularly and some only occasionally. George also planted two of these churches, one in Garu Raului and one in Rachita and as of December 2013 has begun a children’s work in Turnu Rosu. Out of the five villages that George is involved in he helped four of them with fund raising for the church buildings they now have and has also helped raise funds to allow some very poor families to have homes.
Lidia spent seven years working with the Mailbox Bible Course with over 30,000 students. Now Lidia cooks for the Gypsy leaders’ training courses, visiting outreach groups and the GLO Summer Teams.
George and Lidia have two sons, Cristi and Sami. Cristi helps his dad with the Gypsy work and runs the children’s programs, children’s camps and teaches Sunday School at Gura Raului. Cristi is also involved in the Summer Teams. Sami works as an engineer on a farm.
The Lord has called George and Lidia to work with the Gypsies, more workers are needed among these people.
