June 2016
Dear Friend,
Some of you may already be aware that Adi Harris, our short-term mission co-ordinator, has been going through a nine-year battle with cancer. To mark the end of a six-month session of chemotherapy, it was suggested that some of our GLO family & friends could arrange a spectacular event to raise money for Cancer Research UK. "Let's climb Ben Nevis!", Angela & Liz in the Coffee Shop suggested! The fact that they hadn't walked further than the shops didn't seem to worry them.....
Before we knew it, a large team of walkers had signed up and training had begun for the big GLO Team challenge to the top of the highest mountain in the UK. The climb mirrors something of Adi's own struggle with cancer over the past nine years, and some of the vital lessons learned - keep pressing on, always be faithful, never lose faith. As Adi's wonderful grand-daughter, Holly, reminds him from her favourite Peter Rabbit story - 'A good rabbit never gives up!'
The GLO team members & friends who have signed up for the expedition are- Angela, Davy, Liz, Stephen, Debbie, Alan, Andy, Ruth, Adi, Sylivia, Caroline, Brian, Sam, Karen, David & Alan(Nutty). Please consider sponsoring the GLO team for this worthwhile cause. You can either donate at The GLO Bookshop or GLO Coffee Shop, or you can use the 'Just Giving' link set up by Adi - click HERE! Funds are being raised for Cancer Research UK, pioneering cancer research to help beat cancer sooner.
A reminder that we are planning to have a 'GLO Centre Garden Party' over Friday 10th & Saturday 11th June. You would be very welcome to join us as we have special discounts in the Bookshop, a special price for Cream Tea in the Coffee Shop*, a competition for adults with 'Servant Queen' book prizes to give away, a competition for kids with 'Bible Kings & Queens' activity books to give away and our second hand 50p book clearance will be running. Rumour also has it the GLO Bookshop staff will be dressed in suitable garden party attire! Please come along and join us for a bit of June fun and jollification!
We are now running towards the conclusion of our various 'Sunday School Gift & Prize' promotions, but there is still plenty of time to get some great bargains! In particular, we would draw your attention to the Lion & Candle 'Third Off' promotion - you can see details of the books in this great range by clicking HERE. In addition to these offers, a reminder that we always offer a minimum of 5% discount on books for giving to kids, plus free book presentation labels - plus the opportunity to come and actually SEE the books! If it's helpful, we can arrange a time for your teachers to meet down at The GLO Bookshop - if you book ahead, we'll provide free tea and coffee.
With our grateful thanks for your interest and support,
Andrew

Featured title - 'Why Me?' PB - Roger Carswell
The question of why we suffer is never just academic. At one point or another it becomes personal.
In this moving book you’ll read the stories of twelve ordinary people who have known what it is to suffer. They can’t all answer the question ‘Why?’ but they do have an extraordinary hope despite what has happened to them.
As you read their painful, true stories, you’ll see that it is their faith in Jesus that has kept them going as they turned to Him for help during the darkest times of their lives. Well-known evangelist Roger Carswell shares how you, too, can have a hope and a future, even if you’re in the midst of a difficult time. A very suitable and helpful book for Christian & non-Christian alike.
